Abortion
I believe in the sanctity of life.  My personal beliefs, morals and values persuade me that abortion is wrong.  I believe, in nearly all situations it is wrong, exceptions being rape, incest and when the mother’s life is at risk.  This means I am opposed to abortion even when pregnancy is personally or socially inconvenient.  Life is worth saving, nurturing and protecting.  I believe it is a divine gift from God.

I am opposed to the use of government funds for abortion or the promotion of abortion as a desirable outcome for pregnancy.  Inherent in these positions I do not believe that government should punish a woman for choosing an abortion.

In the United States it is legal for a woman to have an abortion.  Although I defend the God given gift of agency I believe there are very few instances where abortion can be justified.  When these circumstance occur, such as when a mother's life is at risk, the decision for or against abortion is very personal and difficult.  I defend her ability and right to make this decision even though I could never recommend abortion as a solution to pregnancy.

Tragically when laws of the land contradict the moral laws of God then we are caught in a position where we are obligated to sustain the law even while being opposed to the moral violation the law allows.  Abortion is one of those cases.  This is why I believe Roe v. Wade should be overturned.
